Interview Analysis:
3 questions to ask during an interview:
- What do you like most about working here?
- While the interviewer might not answer this question truthfully I think that it would be helpful to have an understanding of what an actual employee enjoys about the company.
- What do you consider to be successful in this position?
- This is important to ask so that you know what the expectations are before you begin the role, it also shows future employers that you want to meet their expectations.
- What are the biggest challenges that someone in this role would face?
- This is an important question to ask because every job has its difficulties and it’s important to know what these difficulties might look like to a potential boss. It’s also important to understand what you are agreeing to by taking the job
3 Big moments:
- I have been on many college campuses and I understand what sets different colleges apart from each other. I toured upwards of 20 colleges when I was applying to school and many schools I toured more than once and therefore there are many campuses I have a decent understanding of. Because of this I know what stands out to first year students who are unaware of the campus and what may not be apparent to them that they need help finding.
- My first semester of college I was completely lost, I honestly often times when preparing for college and when first getting to school forgot that I actually had to go to classes and learn stuff. My first week on campus I had no clue how to access blackboard or the printing website and because of this I had a delayed start to my academic career, because I’ve been in this position I want to help students in order to avoid them getting a delayed start on their schooling.
- I have worked in many different customer service positions so I know how to interact with consumers as well as the people selling the product I think because of this I would have a leg up on the competition when it comes to the selling aspect of the job. I know how to talk to people and I would consider myself a good communicator when it comes to pushing a product. I also have taught swim lessons and worked at a camp with older students so I know how to interact with students when they are vulnerable and need help.
3 questions to ask an interviewee:
- What is your greatest strength?
- This will allow the interviewer to understand what the potential employee values about themselves and to understand what they believe to be a strong suite of theirs that they can bring to the table.
- What is your greatest weakness?
- This may be a question people are hesitant to answer because they don’t want to seem like a bad candidate to their interviewer but it’s also important to identify weaknesses in order to grow as a person and employee.
- What made you want to apply for this position?
- This question will allow us to get a better understanding of why the person wants this job. There is a lot to a job description so I would want to know what part of the job description intrigued them.
